Hi every one,
my class and 5A decided to do a graph on our height and the length of our shoe because shoes are actually really interesting. We had to get in to groups collect all our data from our shoes (length, width, area and perimeter plus how tall we are) and put it in to a graph: How tall we are and length of our feet.

I have been asked as holiday home work to do a movie review n the court jester. I know what you might be thinking, never heard of it well there’s a good reason it was filmed in 1955! The movie was co-written, co-directed and co-produced by Melvin Frank and Norman Panama. The movie the court jester stars… Danny Kaye, Glynis Johns, Basil Rathbone, Angela Lansbury and Cecil Parker.
So basically the story line or the synopsis (blurb) is that Hawkins and Jean love each other and there kingdom but the king is not really the air to the throne he is just an imposter who wants power. The real king is a baby boy and the people in the forest (that includes Hawkins and Jean) want the real king to sit on the throne. So Hawkins and jean set out to do just that but with lots of mixes ups jokes and fighting it gets a lot more difficult than they thought.
So in this story there are a lot of sub plots. Ok so one of them is some of the fake kings men want the fake king dead but also do not want the real king on the throne. Hawkins is acting as the court jester from Italy and the men who want the fake king dead think that the court jester Jackomo is also an assassin so there a lot of mix ups trust me. My favourite character would probably be Jean. I like her a lot because she doesn’t let anyone stand in her way and all ways thinks on her feet which I think is great. My favourite quote from the court Jester would have to be this one:
King Roderick: The Duke. What did the Duke do?
Hubert Hawkins: Eh… the Duke do?
King Roderick: Yes. And what about the Doge?
Hubert Hawkins: Oh, the Doge!
King Roderick: Eh. Well what did the Doge do?
Hubert Hawkins: The Doge do?
King Roderick: Yes, the Doge do.
Hubert Hawkins: Well, uh, the Doge did what the Doge does. Eh, uh, when the Doge does his duty to the Duke, that is.
King Roderick: What? What’s that?
Hubert Hawkins: Oh, it’s very simple, sire. When the Doge did his duty and the Duke didn’t, that’s when the Duchess did the dirt to the Duke with the Doge.
King Roderick: Who did what to what?
Hubert Hawkins: Oh, they all did, sire. There they were in the dark; the Duke with his dagger, the Doge with his dart, Duchess with her dirk.
King Roderick: Duchess with her dirk?
Hubert Hawkins: Yes! The Duchess dove at the Duke just when the Duke dove at the Doge. Now the Duke ducked, the Doge dodged, and the Duchess didn’t. So the Duke got the Duchess, the Duchess got the Doge, and the Doge got the Duke!
King Roderick: Curious. I… I… hm? What? What’s that? All I heard was that the Duchess had a siege of rheumatism. She’s 83, you know.
This is my favourite quote because everyone is confused and Hawkins is just making it harder for himself which I find really funny!
In class we have been learning about pentominoes. I guess you will be wondering what they are. I am going to tell you.
My grade, 5C where wondering if all the pentominoes had the same perimeter and area so we decided to investigate. My Hypothesis was that the pentominoes would not have the same perimeter and area. I was partly right. All the pentominoes are the same except for 1. The p shaped one is 10cms in it’s perimeter and the rest have 12cms in there perimeters.
What do you know about Pentominoes?
Here are some websites.
This game is really fun. You have to put all the pentominoes into the grid.
Recently we have learnt about base words. Base words are when you can add other bits and pieces to make other words either at the front or at the end. For example: friend. You can make it friend’s friendship etc. When you add things on the back or the front you call them ether a suffix at the back or a prefix at the front. Here are some pictures. Thanks for reading for now.
These are the words my class came up with.
These are some of the ones I came up with.
Hi every one,
This is my first book review and it is on Boy overboard. I did the book review on Boy overboard because our teacher Miss C, read it to us in term 1 and it’s one of the best books I have ever read.
This is my book review.
Boy over board by Morris Gleitzman is an amazing book. It’s a gripping, eye opening story about courage, separation, hope and family.
In Boy over board Jamal and his sister Bibi have a dream to make it in soccer, but there dreams may be destroyed. When disaster strikes Jamal and his family have to fluey there country home and friends. Along the way they encounter Assassins, a horrible government and pirates. They also have to suffer from separation and lake of food on a horrible journey. Then every thing changes!
Morris Glitzmen is an amazing Author. He includes many different topics that go in with his books. My favourite character in boy overboard would have to be Rashida. She is brave bold and very kind to Jamal and Bibi.
In my opinion boy over board is an amazing book about courage separation and family.
Thanks for reading!
